Lar National Park is a protected area right at the border separating Mazandaran Province from Tehran Province. Located at the foothills of Mount Damavand, the highest peak in Iran, Lar National Park is a stunning combination of unique natural sights and an incredibly rich ecosystem. The park expands over 74,000 acres of land dominated by the juxtaposition of lofty Alborz mountains and massive green valleys. Lar boasts the largest valley in the country, the habitat of many large mammals including wild boar, grey wolf and leopard.
To make most of this spectacular tourism potential our group organizes a marvelous one-day off-road tour in the area. Our tour begins in the morning from the capital and we drive through the famous Haraz road (Road 77) to reach Lar National Park. The trip takes a bit more than an hour since our destination is about 70 km away from Tehran. The off-road trip is one memorable journey through the unsullied nature of Alborz mountains. You will revel at the most scenic view of the formidable Mount Damavand clothed in a transparent sea of clouds. If we're lucky we come across nomadic people with their large tents and colorful traditional clothes grazing their flocks. Lar dam, one of the highest-built dams in the world is another attraction of the region offering rare sights especially for photographers. After enjoying all this beauty, we will have a delicious lunch while relishing the magical view of Damavand. Next comes another wonderful aspect of Lar National Park. During spring and early summer, the valley is carpeted with a myriad of flowers and one cannot resist the temptation to walk amongst these natural canvases. You will have a walk among the flowers and take loads of photos before heading back to Tehran with great memories of the beautiful Lar.
