Ilam is one of the most unknown places in Iran for foreign tourists and even for many Iranians. Consequently, its natural beauty is still unspoiled to a great extent. And the diversity of natural attractions is mind-blowing in Ilam. Lofty heights of Kabir Kuh and the valley of Darreh Shahr which is an ideal place for off-road tours, Dehloran Dragon Blood spring, other-worldly depths of the awe-inspiring Zeynegan Cave, the immaculate woodlands near the Canyon of Razianeh, and the magical green waters of Tangeh Kaferin among many other bedazzling tourist attractions in Ilam await the thrilled looks of travelers. Currently there are not many tourists who take Ilam tours and it being a small city, the accommodation options aren’t as many as cities like Tehran and Isfahan. Ilam doesn’t have any luxury hotels and hostels. The best hotel in Ilam is Zagros Hotel which is a well-kept three-star hotel by Iran’s standards that provides online booking. Other hotels in Ilam such as Dalahu and Khalash are cheaper in comparison with other Iran hotels but they also offer online booking. However contrary to the dearth of hotels and hostels, there are numerous guesthouses in Ilam that provide their guests with basic amenities and good service. The only problem is that most of the owners don’t speak English so communication can be challenging. Aside from this minor drawback, Ilam guesthouses are cozy places where you can get acquainted with the rich culture of kindhearted Kurdish people.
