Ramsar Palace

The Islamic revolution of 1979 brought a sea of changes in the political, economic, and social spheres of Iran. But the most radical change was definitely the political system of the country. The Pahlavi dynasty ruled over Iran for 54 years. They tried to fabricate an identity for themselves by evoking the lost image of the ancient Persia with its mighty kings and undefeatable armies. They also built grand palaces in Iran in the style of what they conceived to be how the Achaemenid kings built theirs. The most famous example of these royal houses is Niavaran palace in Tehran. But the construction of these mansions and palaces wasn’t limited to the capital. They also built them in Rudsar, Chalous, Karaj, Rudan, and Gorgan. One of the finest of these royal palaces lies in Ramsar in Mazandaran province. Reza Shah Pahlavi, the first of his name ordered the construction of the palace in 1937. The palace and the breathtaking area around it served as the summer residence for the members of the royal family. The design and architecture of Ramsar palace had been a joined project between Iranian and European architects and artists. The material used in the construction of the palace is white veined marble. A large porch supported by four marble pillars form the front view of the palace. The interior of the building is decorated with priceless handmade furniture and many paintings from some of the most famous painters in the world. In the wake of the revolution, Mostazafan Foundation took hold of the palace and turned it into a museum. The complex includes the precious royal ivory collection, with stunning statues and artifacts from all over the world. The Anthropology Museum presents items belonging to various ethnicities in Iran and is a great way of knowing the ways and lifestyles of old Iranians. Despite the fact that there are remarkable historic sites in Mazandaran like Ramsar Palace, the majority of Mazandaran tourist attractions are in the form of spectacular natural sights. Badab Soort Terraces Springs and Shahandasht Waterfall are the most popular spots covered by Mazandaran tours. Our Badab Soort tours will take you to a magic land where a rainbow of colors appears from the depths of the earth. During these two-day tours, you will visit Badab Soort Terrace Springs and some other marvelous natural sights in Mazandaran province. You will have a lovely night in a beautiful old village named Orost. If you like to see more amazing sights in the north of Iran, we recommend you also to try our Caspian Sea Nature tours. You might ask, what if one decides to make a solo trip? That won’t be a problem either, since the people are used to the sight of foreign tourists and they are very helpful.
