Shirbad ski resort is located 65 kilometers from Mashhad in Binaloud mountains. It is also known for its long ski season. Given the altitude of the region and the high level of precipitation, Shirbad ski resort is open to skiers for over five months of the year.
Imam Reza’s Shrine is one of the most sacred places for Shia Muslims and the prime destination of Mashhad day tours. Alī ibn Mūsā ar-Riḍā, the 8th Imam in Shia Islam lived in Khorasan during his last years.
Chalidarreh is a very popular recreational complex 33 km east of Mashhad near the town of Torqabeh. To irrigate the vast farms near the town, a dam was built near Torqabeh in a region called Chalidarreh. But the huge lake that formed behind the dam has many other functions besides watering the farmlands.
