Mesr is a village in Dasht-e Kavir (the Great Salt Desert), Isfahan Province, Iran. Mesr desert (AKA kavir mesr), lies right next to the village of the same name. Mesr desert tours along with those of Maranjab desert and Varzaneh desert are among the most popular packages in Iran nature tours. Mesr (literally meaning Egypt) is the true definition of a desert village. It is a very small rural area surrounded by an ocean of sand, a feature that has worked for its benefit in the recent years. To get to Mesr the easiest route is to take Naein road from Isfahan (420 km). If you are traveling solo and don’t have a car the cheapest and most convenient option you have is to take the bus to Khur and then take a taxi to Mesr, a trip that takes half an hour. Either way the trip will well worth your time and money, for in Mesr you will find all kinds of ways to be one with the solitude of the dunes.
